New Version of Direct Data Capture System Released
"Velos, Inc. in March announced the release of Velos eResearch Version 7, featuring Web 2.0 technology and system design for investigator-side clinical trial management and direct data capture. According to the company's announcement, it is the only software vendor in widespread use at investigator sites that is CFR Part 11 compliant, and more than 60 functional and system enhancements were incorporated into the new release. The system is intended to move users from a "remote data capture" mode, in which clinical trial data are essentially keypunched into sponsor systems, to a "direct data capture" mode, in which systems used at investigator sites support data capture as part of the clinical research supply chain. This frees system users from redundant data entry and related time delays, and integrates the clinical, administrative, and financial information needs of research management.
