Medical University Of South Carolina Selects Velos Transplant - Collaboration In Systems Innovation Underway
Fremont, CA — February 16, 2005 — Velos, Inc., an
innovative provider of clinical research and specialty medical
software, today announced that Medical University Hospital Authority
of the Medical University of South Carolina selected Velos
Transplant to automate the MUSC Transplant Program. The relationship
includes a collaboration to develop innovative new system
functionality that is not generally available today from commercial
Transplant system vendors. These unprecedented new modules are
expected to be of value to Transplant programs interested in
leveraging state-of-the-art information technology for improved
health outcomes and operational
efficiencies.
“Transplantation is relatively underserved by
software companies because it’s a smaller market,” notes John
McIlwain, President of Velos. “Over the past five years, Velos has
invested in robust, core software technology that has been
specialized to meet the particular needs of Transplant programs.
This core technology can be easily extended for additional levels of
automation and ease-of-use, which we’ll be doing with MUSC. At MUSC,
we’re fortunate to be partnered with a high quality medical center
and top caliber professionals in both the transplant program and the
information systems area.”
“We're looking forward to the
successful implementation in our Transplant Center in the
short-term, and a productive partnership with Velos in the
long-term," said Dave Northrup, Director of Clinical Systems, Office
of the CIO at MUSC.
