  • Velos Showcases New Electronic Reporting System at UNOS 14th Annual Transplant Management Forum

Fremont, CA — April 21, 2006 — Velos, Inc., an innovative provider of clinical research and specialty medical software, today announced that it will showcase the new Velos Data Exchange System (“VDE”), which may be used in conjunction with the UNetSM Reporting System, at the UNOS Transplant Management Forum in San Francisco, April 24-26. Scheduled for full release later this year, the Velos VDE System is integrated with Velos Transplant and is also compatible with the Velos Interface Engine, a software toolset used to create data feeds between different information systems.

The Velos Interface Engine currently interfaces with approximately 50 different third party medical record systems, laboratory systems, and medical devices. The Velos Interface Engine together with the VDE provides a high quality, cost-effective solution for both supporting the UNetSM Reporting process and leveraging the extensive outcomes data created in the process.

Velos has been among the larger suppliers of information systems that support medical registries such as those maintained by the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Applying similar technology, the new Velos VDE System supports the entire UNOS reporting process by enabling the capture of the majority of the UNetSM data directly from the medical record system(s) at a Transplant Center or hospital. Exception Reports detail missing data and provide an easy means to capture and validate complete Tiedi®-compliant form data. Such data are then exported electronically to UNetSM . The VDE System then imports follow-up forms and related data from UNetSM .

“The Velos VDE System is designed to be used with the UNetSM Reporting System and will provide substantial added value for current Velos Transplant customers as well as other transplant centers interested in improving the process of gathering data for UNOS reporting,” notes John McIlwain, President of Velos. “In conjunction with Velos Transplant, the new module also further enriches customer capabilities in outcomes reporting and analysis.”

The total return on investment is expected to exceed 200% in a five-year analysis as compared to the largely manual capabilities in place at most Transplant Centers. To see the Velos Data Exchange System in action, please visit Velos at Booth # 26.
