  • Velos is Fully STS Version 2.41 Certified

VELOS CERTIFIES SINGLE DATABASE ARCHITECTURE WITH THE SOCIETY OF THORACIC SURGEONS

Minneapolis, MN – June 5, 2002 – Velos, Inc. announced today that it has certified a single database architecture for its customers who report clinical outcomes to the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS). The Velos Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery is a scalable data management solution designed to meet the wide range of customer needs in the cardiovascular market. Velos will be updating STS 2.35 data into the newly certified STS 2.41 certified product.

“To address ever-changing clinical outcomes information needs of medical societies such as the STS, many vendors simply develop new databases for new society database standards”, notes John S. McIlwain, President and CEO of Velos. “This can become very cumbersome for customers with extensive clinical data. Our ability to provide customers with a single longitudinal record reflects a superior system design and many years of leadership in Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery clinical information.”

“We know how important retrospective data reporting is to our customers,” stated Kevin McDonald, Product Manager. “With this and other STS releases, Velos is migrating existing data into the newest societal version. Rather than reporting from different databases, all data is in one database making the data far easier to report on and query. Furthermore, with Velos, fields that have been deleted in the current societal version continue to be available in Velos. This enables Velos customers to derive value from many years of clinical data for other applications in patient care, marketing, and research.”

Velos develops innovative healthcare information management solutions in Cardiology, Renal, and Transplantation specialties and for clinical research. Velos is focused on providing customer-driven software applications that easily evolve with the needs of its customers. The American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) have fully certified the Velos Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery applications for use by participants in the ACC-NCDR and the STS National Database. Velos customers benefit from 15+ years of cardiology/CV surgery clinical information management expertise. Velos offers an integrated suite of clinical, administrative, and financial products and technology, bridging legacy and net-centric architectures. Velos is privately held with headquarters in Silicon Valley. This press release contains forward-looking statements that are subject to risks and uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ materially from those set forth in the forward-looking statements, including the anticipated benefits resulting from STS 2.41 certification. Why Choose Velos Over Other Vendors?

  • CLIENT SERVICES - At Velos we provide Gold standard client services. Velos Implementation, Training, and, most importantly the Technical Customer Support is the standard by which other vendors measure themselves. All of our customers serve as references.

  • AFTER THE PURCHASE - We take care of our customers after the purchase of the program. You will receive monthly communiqués, product information updates, a quarterly newsletter, and regional user group meetings on a quarterly basis. Summer 2002 – All Velos User Group Meeting in Minneapolis, MN!!!

  • PRODUCT SCALABILITY - Grow your Velos system AS your institution’s needs increase! Start with the ACC-NCDR and/or STS certified databases, and then purchase additional modules, OR create your own modules with our Dynamic Database Design Tool.

  • CUSTOMIZED FIELDS - The Velos Customization Tool allows you to place fields in sections where you want them. The end result is easier, common-sensical data reporting. Customized fields may then be reported on and incorporated into the Standard Reports or via an ad hoc query.

  • EXCEL REPORTING TOOL - We have MS Excel-based reports. This is a very inexpensive reporting tool; most people have had at least minimal exposure to Excel – so learning the reports is very quick and easy. Excel offers great flexibility and the ability to obtain all of the data you need through filtering, pivot tables, charting and graphing. Statistical graphs and charts already come with Excel and are very easy to use. Other vendors need additional SPSS or statistical reporting packages that cost extra $$$. Say “NO” to hidden costs!

  • ODBC COMPLIANT REPORTING ENGINE - If you opt not to use Excel, the Velos application is ODBC compliant. Crystal, SASS, Cognos and other reporting engines can be used to report Velos data.

  • INTERFACES - Let interfacing take 3 or more minutes off each patient’s data entry record time. Our program has ADT and Hemodynamic interfacing capabilities. All costs associated to run the program are communicated up front. We work closely with your IT department to ensure the successful implementation of your interface.

  • STANDARD REPORT LIBRARY - Currently there are 20 standard reports each for the ACC and STS modules. This reporting library is both analytical and procedural. From the feedback of our customers, new reports are being developed continuously.

  • SYBASE - We utilize Sybase® SQL Anywhere as our standard database engine for three reasons: Widely available, low-maintenance and self-tuning, plus very cost effective when compared to other database engines.

    Latest Velos Features
