UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center Rolls Out Velos In Record Time
San Francisco, CA — June 22, 2004 — Velos, Inc., an
innovative provider of clinical research information systems, today
announced that UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center has implemented
Velos eResearch to support clinical trial management and related
clinical research information needs. The UCSF Comprehensive
Cancer Center deployed Velos eResearch for use in research
administration, budgeting, electronic data capture, clinical data
management, reporting and analysis.
“Research sites have a
significant need for systems that support diverse research
information needs, yet also help standardize and execute procedures
in areas like study administration, clinical research operations,
data safety monitoring, and communications,” said Priti Sahai, MD,
Senior Director of Product Development for Velos. “The needs of
large investigator sites differ markedly from those of sponsors in
terms of workflow, system integration requirements, and a need to
collect and recall research information at the patient level as well
as at the study level. Velos has applied its extensive technology,
clinical, and research systems expertise to empower research sites
with specialized, state-of-the-art clinical research system
capabilities. This benefits all the research constituencies: the
patients, the sponsors, and of course the sites.”
UCSF
Comprehensive Cancer Center put Velos eResearch into full production
in just three months. Today, the UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center
has over 1,600 study protocols and 15,000 patients running in
Velos.
“We’re very pleased the UCSF Comprehensive Cancer
Center selected Velos and has achieved such rapid success,” notes
John McIlwain, President of Velos. “Their ability to implement Velos
so effectively is equally indicative of Velos product excellence and
strong leadership and implementation skills at the Cancer
Center.”
