Velos Launches Specimen Management System — Newest Product is Fundamental for the Future in Clinical Research —
Fremont, CA - July 26, 2007 - Velos, Inc., the recognized leader and trusted resource for clinical trials management information systems for large investigator sites, today announced that it will soon release its specimen management system, called Velos eSample. This new product, scheduled for a fall release, provides investigators and pathologists with a comprehensive operations support system for managing specimen data and integrating specimen data with rich clinical data sets such as are captured in Velos eResearch, the company's flagship product line for clinical trials management.
"Velos customers have been doing basic specimen tracking in Velos eResearch for a while now," said John S. McIlwain, President and CEO of Velos. "Velos eSample adds a host of features that completes the requirement set for all aspects of specimen management. The product is particularly powerful because it leverages the clinical research functionality of Velos eResearch. As such, Velos eSample takes the specimen inventory management product genre to a previously unseen level of richness and functionality among commercially available products."
Velos eSample provides everything from patient confidentiality, to sample inventory management, to grid services for multi-site research collaboration. Notably, Velos eSample is part of a single, integrated database platform that also supports Velos eResearch. This elegant approach is ideal for scientific analysis, enabling researchers to seamlessly associate genotype data captured in Velos eSample with phenotype (clinical) data captured in Velos eResearch.
"We and our customers see a future in which a large portion of medical research will include genome data analysis," said Priti Sahai, MD, Velos VP, Product Management and Operations. "With Velos eSample, customers will be positioned for excellence in integrated specimen and clinical research information infrastructure."
As with all components of Velos eResearch, Velos eSample ensures compliance with institutional policies and standard operating procedures, and with relevant laws and regulations, such as HIPAA and CFR Part 11.
