Market Leader Announces ICD Registry Product On Pure Internet Platform Technology
    — Outcomes Data Integrated with Leading-Edge Clinical Trials Management System —

Fremont, CA - August 9, 2007 - Velos, Inc., the recognized leader and trusted resource for clinical research information systems for investigator sites, today announced that it has completed development, certification, and release of its American College of Cardiology ICD registry product on the Velos eResearch platform, a pure internet platform technology. The Velos eICD Registry is part of a Velos product suite that addresses the outcomes and clinical research needs of cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons and includes modules that support all widely used registry products sponsored by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC).

"Any software product is accessible over the Internet using wrapper technology like Citrix. To our knowledge, Velos is the first, widely-used STS/ACC registry vendor to deliver STS/ACC registries on real Internet platform technology," says John S. McIlwain, President of Velos. "Internet platform technology has numerous advantages including lower cost-of-ownership, lower service costs, a zero end user system foot print, and a more intuitive, Web user interface. Customers who have seen Velos eResearch and the new generation of Velos cardiology/CV surgery products are quick to discern the difference."

The Velos eICD Registry and the related Velos eCardio product line are part of the Velos eResearch family of products whose customers now receive more than 30 percent of NIH extramural clinical research funding - by far the largest such share for its class of product. Velos customers comprise 14 of the 18 Honor Roll hospitals in the 2007 U.S. News and World Report Best Hospitals survey. The Velos eICD Registry product is available on a stand-alone basis or a part of the integrated product suite.

"Registries and clinical outcomes are a subset of clinical research," said John S. McIlwain, President and CEO of Velos, Inc. "We provide one system that supports all research needs including registry needs on one state-of-the-art platform - a "one stop shop" for cardiovascular research and one more opportunity to reduce work duplication in research data capture.

In addition, the Velos Interface Engine (VIE) is fully integrated with the Velos eCardio/Velos eResearch product line and supports interfaces with more than 100 source clinical systems. Through VIE, the Velos eCardio suite is cost-effectively interfaced with medical records products and hemodynamic systems already in use at their hospitals. This further improves the efficiency with which clinical data is captured. The same interface then also supports other research needs, such as clinical trials, Phase IV studies, as well as investigator- and government-sponsored trials, through Velos eResearch.

    About Velos eResearch

Velos eResearch is a comprehensive clinical research management solution designed specifically for investigators and their research teams. This application blends easily into the existing workflow, streamlining and accelerating the research process and producing quality study results. Answering the need for a connectivity and data aggregating solution in the field of clinical research, Velos eResearch offers a cost-effective means to bring together all the participants in the research process. Velos has ushered in a new generation of Internet-accessible research capabilities that fundamentally improve the pervasiveness and efficiency of clinical research for the research team, trial sponsors, and the patient. These activities include study design, patient recruitment, task/time management and facilitating investigator and IRB activities leading up to the posting of patient results to a study database. Such activities need to be deeply and intelligently linked to patient clinical and lab data collection, CRF-related data capture, adverse event management, and monitoring. Integrating these information needs in an easy-to-use, workflow-oriented environment is what Velos eResearch achieves.

    About Velos

Velos is the trusted clinical trial management resource for investigators, sponsors and academic leaders throughout the U.S. Velos eResearch is deployed for clinical research in all parts of the healthcare enterprise and supports a broad diversity of clinical departments and functional needs. The system fundamentally improves the way data is collected, organized and shared. A pure Internet technology platform, Velos eResearch harnesses advanced powers of the Internet to enable research sites, sponsors, and patients to collaborate in a secure, integrated system platform. System users are freed of redundant data entry and related time delays associated with most clinical research today. Recently, Velos has released Velos eTools, a companion product to Velos eResearch. Previously, the Velos technical services group had sole possession of this product, supporting customer requests for system configuration, data migrations, custom reporting and third party data submissions. Velos eTools allows customers ownership and access to these functions. With emphasis on workflow, Velos integrates the clinical, administrative and financial information needs of research management. Founded in 1996, Velos is privately held with headquarters in Fremont, California. For more information, visit www.velos.com.
