Velos Essentials Solution Overview

Velos Essentials is an integrated suite of software application and connectivity tools that supports the clinical, administrative, and outcomes information needs in the cardiology setting. Velos Essentials introduces a new paradigm for information management in cardiology healthcare. Traditional healthcare software products generally address different functional needs, e.g. medical record, lab, pharmacy, billing/charge capture, inventory management, outcomes, clinical research, and point of care support.

The reality, however, is that information that supports one need is generally required for a multitude of other needs. For example, a simple patient encounter can generate information that has relevance to at least a half dozen other touch points, including the lab, pharmacy, payer, financial accounting system, patient scheduling, referrals, diagnostic equipment, and regulatory agencies. In a typical hospital or clinic, the information needs of the different user “constituencies” are currently supported by dozens of paper-based procedures and forms and a series of disintegrated systems.

The Velos premise is simple: "Invert the paradigm"---rather than provide systems that take a functional approach, provide systems that support clinical process and connectivity needs, addressing a multitude of functional needs as a natural by-product.

Velos strikes at the heart of widely acknowledged inefficiencies in healthcare and opens opportunity for not just incremental, but substantial efficiency improvements in healthcare. In the process, Velos unlocks a wealth of rich, integrated information that provides the infrastructure for responsible, information-based medicine.

Velos Essentials’ workflow-centered approach addresses patient care, clinical trials management, charge capture, regulatory compliance, and integration with third party systems through one system and database architecture. Rich information sets emerge as we bring these functional activities into one database, information that is particularly valuable to providers, drug/medical device manufacturers and ultimately patients.

The Velos system is designed to provide a single point of entry for patient demographic information. This information is then linked to multiple critical disease collection modules. Velos Essentials is a scalable information system designed to meet a wide range of customer needs in the cardiovascular market.

Module

Highlights

Patient Charting
  • Comprehensive patient information including demographics, ADT,history, diagnosis, procedures, labs, notes and To Do lists
  • Single patient record used across all encounters and modalities.
Cardiology Modules
  • Cardiac Catheterization and Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Other modules – Electrophysiology and Nuclear
  • Additional modules built easily with the Dynamic Forms Generator
Research Management
  • Additional fields and/or new forms enable research data capture.
  • Customizable reports and outcomes analysis include research data.
  • Additional capabilities for web-based form design and data capture.
Velos Integration Engine (VIE)
  • Generic integration engine which imports data from various sources, e.g. text files, messages or directly from databases.
  • Existing interfaces include:
  • ADT
  • Medical Devices
  • Labs
  • Charge Capture and Billing

System Advantages

  • Ability to capture, report and track key clinical information, including diagnoses, procedures, medications, labs, orders and notes.
  • Quick and easy retrieval of clinical information from a single source by interfacing with existing information systems as well as capturing data at the point of care.
  • Standard library of interfaces for most major hemodynamic machines, ADT, and Billing systems.
  • ACC/STS certified modules for Cardiac Catheterization and Cardiac Surgery.
  • Data warehouse brings together standard clinical data, “dynamically” added fields and research-related information into a single, longitudinal patient record, thus enabling powerful reporting and outcomes analysis.
  • Customizable and user-maintainable vocabulary for Cardiology.
