GENERAL FEATURES

Patient Management

  • Instant retrieval of patient record via complete or partial patient identifiers(medical record number, SSN, name, date of birth, gender physician, etc.).
  • Ability to capture scanned images (e.g., patient’s photograph for identification purposes, X-Rays, ECGs, etc.).
  • Advanced Search Templates: Patient database can be sorted by multiple criteria such as age, sex, diagnosis, clinical factors, employment status, etc. Filters can be applied individually or in combination through the use of “and/or” feature and can be saved for future use and applied to reports as well.
  • Captures the patient’s social history and allergies.
  • Accommodates multiple patient address and telephone information, next of kin, insurance, employer and referring physicians.
  • Distinguishes between active and inactive patients and other relevant patient statuses.
  • Automatically downloads patient information from a hospital database, a laboratory system or disease-specific machines, e.g., a dialysis machine.

Customization

  • Maintenance Tables: User-defined controlled medical vocabulary used in more than 130 lists within Velos. Maintainable fields include all diagnoses (ICD-9), encounters, problems, complaints and procedures (CPT-4).
  • Create lists of most frequently used problems, complaints, ICD-9 or CPT-4 codes to simplify search process.
  • Velos Reports can be customized through the use of “filters” to change the time period covered by the report, the patients or facilities included in the report and other variables.
  • New reports can be created in Crystal Reports and seamlessly integrated into Velos Clinical.
  • Encounters which are modifiable and customizable.



Security

  • User login and electronic signature password protection.
  • Ability to limit access (includes both data entry and ability to view data) to Velos based on provider type.
  • “Audit trail” function to allow a super user to view what changes were made to previously entered data and by whom.

CARE MANAGEMENT

Question and Questionnaire Builder

  • Can build library of questions, which can then be grouped to form questionnaires. These can be used for various patient assessments.Questions can have one of six (6) response types.
  • Questionnaires can be printed or exported as Word files.

Worklists

  • Allows user to customize sequence of Velos screens associated with any encounter and attach explanatory notes for other users.
  • “Floating” pop-up screen to guide user through customized screen sequence.

Care Plans

  • Identifies patient Care Team.
  • Provides summary of care plan detail; allows viewing and printing of current, past and discontinued care plans.

Alerts/Reminders

  • Pop-up screens to alert or remind user of incomplete tasks, providing timely information.

Referral Letters

  • Allows user to create MS Word templates for correspondence with other clinicians.
  • Documents can be previewed on screen before printing.
  • Reports, Notes and Pictures can be attached.

To-Do List

  • Keeps track of tasks for providers and appears on clinical summary age.
  • Tasks can be identified as pending or complete.
  • Tasks can be viewed and searched by provider or patient.

Messaging

  • User can send messages and mail to colleagues.
  • Displays message subject, sender’s name, date& time.

Event Viewer

  • Graphical display of all clinical events for patient, including medications, diagnoses, problems, complaints, etc.
  • Data can be arranged in any order of patient, date and event.
  • Treatment data can be immediately accessed at any time if further detail is needed.

CLINICAL FEATURES

Clinical Summary

  • Summary which contains current medications, allergies, problems, primary and secondary diagnoses, past medical history and last admission/discharge.

Diagnoses

  • Complete list of ICD-9 codes which can be accessed by code or name.
  • Records Diagnosis Date, Type, Status and Severity.
  • Ability to attach notes to Diagnosis which can be recorded through keyboard or via voice recognition/transcription.

Problems

  • Stores details such as date, time, status, and plans.
  • Links to care plan feature.
  • Classified according to whether current, resolved or ruled out.

Medications

  • Medication search using either medication name, relevant disease, ICD-9 code or custom code in convenient three-tier browser format.
  • Dropdown menus to facilitate the entry of dosage, route, frequency, etc.
  • Convenient summaries of current, past and discontinued medications.
  • Differentiates between medications administered at home versus in center.
  • Allergy information highlighted.

Labs

  • Ability to search labs by category, individually or by date and to create new names.
  • Lab reports can be saved to users disk or hard drive.
  • Lab values can be graphed over time (line or bar graphs).
  • Ability to record and interface with microbiology system data.

Notes

  • Note library to facilitate note creation.
  • Working interface with voice recognition software for dictation transcription.
  • Can accommodate up to a full page of text per note.

Orders

  • Summarizes Medication, Lab and Physician/Nurse Orders.
  • Shows current, past and discontinued orders.
  • Records the reason for discontinuing an order.
  • Adds disease-specific order information in separate screen.
  • Maintains historical record of order.

Procedures

  • Complete list of all CPT-4 codes.
  • Maintains historical summary of procedures and attached notes.
  • Records procedure date, time and status.

Reports

  • Library categorizes more than 70 reports by type.
  • Can be viewed on screen first before printing. Zoom in/out feature to facilitate on-screen viewing.
  • Can be saved to disk or user’s hard drive or deleted from library.
  • Seamless integration of reports developed in Crystal ReportWriter®.That means unlimited user-defined reporting capability.
